Rebuilding Lola’s Sewing School: Creating Long-Term Opportunity in Armenia
Assyrian Family Aid is proud to have supported the reconstruction of Lola’s Sewing School workshop in Armenia—an important project focused on empowering women through education, skill-building, and sustainable opportunity. This rebuilt space marks more than just a physical improvement; it represents renewed hope, access, and long-term growth for the women and families it serves.
Before the renovation, the sewing program operated in a limited and deteriorating space that could not accommodate the growing number of women eager to learn. Through this project, Assyrian Family Aid helped rebuild a functional workshop environment that allows for safe instruction, hands-on learning, and the creation of high-quality garments and embroidery.
The goals of this project included restoring a usable learning space, supporting vocational training through sewing and hand embroidery, and creating opportunities for women to develop skills that can lead to income generation and independence. By investing in both the physical workshop and the program itself, this initiative strengthens women’s ability to support their families while preserving traditional Assyrian craftsmanship.
This project is especially meaningful in the long term. Vocational education equips women with practical skills that remain valuable for years to come, fostering self-reliance and community resilience. A rebuilt workshop also ensures the sustainability of the program, allowing future participants to learn, create, and contribute economically.
Assyrian Family Aid is honored to support initiatives like Lola’s Sewing School that uplift women, preserve cultural heritage, and invest in lasting community development across Armenia.
